In a time where the world feels uncertain, one thing is for sure: music is flourishing in quarantine. Music lovers around the world have gotten their fill of new music in the recent months including new music from artists such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and star on the rise, Dominic Fike.

Dominic Fike is one of the newest faces on the music scene and he is gaining popularity fast. A Florida native, Fike is breaking musical boundaries by combining genres to find a sound unique to his brand and it is definitely working. After being sought out by multiple record labels, Dominic Fike was ultimately signed to Columbia Records (with whom he currently is with). According to numerous reports, it was a bidding war between multiple labels before Fike was signed to Columbia Records. And we can see why- his music is unlike any other.

On his Columbia Records debut album, What Could Possibly Go Wrong, Fike gives listeners 14 songs that are bound to get stuck in your head for days. Don’t believe me? Just take a listen to his 2018 song, “3 Nights”. Within the first 15 seconds the song becomes instantly recognizable. That’s because it rose to major success and was heard virtually everywhere. In recent months, “3 Nights” has been surfacing again on TikTok. The popular social media platform gaining Fike even more fans.

A rapper, a guitarist, songwriter and all around amazing musician, Fike is taking the music world by storm at the young age of 24. And while he is proud of his work, he doesn’t want to label his first album a masterpiece. In speaking on his album, he said he a lot of fun working on it but can’t wait to continue making music and getting better at his craft…spoken like a true musician.

His album, What Could Possibly Go Wrong, was originally slated for an early July release date, however, in support of the nationwide protests against police brutality, Fike decided to push back the date to the end of July. He stated: “This is a time for us to stand strong and demand justice for the innocent black lives being taken from us—George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the names we'll never get to know,” (taken from a statement posted by Fike on Instagram,)
