After her cover of “Heart of Glass” by Blondie went viral on TikTok, Miley Cyrus continued to cover rock songs for her MTV Unplugged performance and her set at NIVA’s virtual Save Our Stages Fest.
On Friday, October 16th, Miley performed in her backyard for MTV Unplugged. She covered “Gimme More” by Britney Spears, “These Days” by Nico, and “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam. Her sister Noah Cyrus joined her on stage, and the two harmonized to Noah’s song “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus.” Miley concluded her performance with her most recent disco/pop rock single “Midnight Sky.”
Miley also performed on October 17th at Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles. She is one of many artists that performed for the Save Our Stages Fest, a virtual festival that benefits the National Independent Venue Association Emergency Relief Fund to help independent venues that have struggled during the coronavirus pandemic. Miley’s set included covers of “Zombie” by The Cranberries and “Boy’s Don’t Cry” by The Cure, as well as a performance of “Midnight Sky.”
Miley’s rock covers have been popular lately on TikTok. The snippet of her singing Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” earned over 8.3 million views on the platform, which led her to release the cover on streaming platforms.
With more of Miley’s covers going viral on social media, we hope to see her release these covers on streaming platforms.
